At an elevation of 856 m, the city of Burgos and its province have a Continental Mediterranean climate (Köppen Dsa), a variant of the Continental climate and Mediterranean climate found in the Meseta Central ("Inner Plateau") of Spain and caused by two principal factors: 1) distance from the sea and 2) higher altitude.
