Tychy is a city in southern Poland with a population of 132,600. It is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship (since 1999); previously, it was in Katowice Voivodeship (1975-1998). Tychy is an important center of beer production (Tyskie beer) and automotive industry (Fiat factory, specializing in city cars; formerly known as FAP, Fiat Auto Poland).
Tychy is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of Katowice in the Upper Silesian Industry Area near the Vistula river. The city borders Katowice to the north, Mikołów to the west, Bieruń to the east and Kobiór to the south. |
