Peqin

Peqin is the capital of the Peqin District in central Albania. The town has a population of 10000. The ancient name of Peqin was Klaudiana. The todays name derives from Ottoman form Bekleyin, which means place of Hospitality. Still today there exist the Ottoman Peqin Castle and some original parts of the mosque of Abdurrahman Pasha, who was the governor of Eflak [Vlachia] and Boğdan [Moldavia]. Its football team is KS Shkumbini, which play in Albanian superleague. KS Shkumbini is famous for its Crazy Supporters called The Skyblue-White Lions.
